About Me

Hello, I’m Kay Davis, a textile artist, costume maker and illustrator based in Lincolnshire. I have a Masters Degree in Fashion and Textile Design and over 30 years experience making and teaching in the arts sector.

I studied Embroidered Textiles at Goldsmiths University, London. I have been fortunate enough to work backstage in the wardrobe department of various Theatres. Whilst researching for my MA, I gained an increasing awareness of our impact on the environment and how disconnected we have become from the natural world, which has sparked my passion for using sustainable materials and environmentally friendly working methods whenever possible.

I use recycled fabrics and natural dyes, sometimes harvested from dye plants in my garden or foraged from the countryside in my local area. Currently, I'm experimenting with making my own natural inks and drawing materials, revisiting my childhood days of grinding stones into powder paint. fascinated by colour and texture, it is now my goal to produce high quality environmentally friendly pieces that align with my ecological values and respect for the natural world.
